Overview

Unrated. No USCF membership required. Open to the public with a few restrictions noted below. Online pre-registration required unless we have spots open up. This is NOT a knockout tournament. Expect to play all rounds as long as we have an even number of players. Odd man out will get a bye (a free point) if there's no opponent to play against.

Expect a special add-on Bullet (1 min speed chess) tournament immediately afterwards! Top 6 scoring players will be eligible to participate in the Bullet event for a chance to win a brand new Chronos clock!

Who can play?

Adults please, age 18+. Kids, if you are at least age 14 or have an OTB rating 1400+ USCF, you may participate.

Time

3pm - 5:30pm Saturday of Labor Day weekend, September 3rd 2022
Show up on site to check in by 2:45pm! You will be required to check in for this event. If you are not checked-in you will receive a 0.5pt bye for the first round and you will not be paired to play. If we do not hear from you by the time the first round is over, you will be withdrawn from the event. Find the check in desk at the top of the stairs near the floral shop.

Cost

$20 Entry Fee, must prepay thru Zelle or Square prior to attending thru the registration form below, non-refundable due to limited spots available (24 spots available).

Details

Expect 7 rounds. Likely 2 sections, but depends on # of players registered and ratings of players. 

Time Control

​Time control G/3;inc2. (3 minutes per person with a 2 second increment per move).

Prizes

Minimum $300 guaranteed. Expected prizes $150 - 90 - 60. 

What to Bring

Nothing. We will be supplying sets and clocks for this event. If you prefer to bring your own clock, that's fine too. No analog clocks allowed.

Lots of food & beverage and some boutique shopping available onsite at Railway Heights Market!

Parking

Find the gravel covered lot right next to the building. If enforced on-site, it will be a maximum $5 for the entire day after a free 90 minute stay. Hint*, if you don't see parking attendants, I wouldn't worry too much about it. This is not a guarantee on our part that nothing will happen. Park at your own risk.
