- You may not choose to "play up" a section (this is our club rule for our events held at the chess refinery)
- For pairing purposes and placement in a section we use Supplement Ratings published once a month by the USCF. We do not use the current Live Post Event Ratings. Exceptions may be made for unrated and/or provisional or FIDE rated players.
- If there is more than one section, the cutoff for placement in each section is determined by the tournament director and is entirely up to his/her discretion.
- Pairings are done using SwissSys pairing software. These are computer generated pairings!
- We use Swiss System pairing rules
- You should not expect to be paired against someone close to you in playing strength. This rarely happens - especially for the first round where there is usually the greatest disparity.
- Yes, it is entirely possible for you to play two or even three blacks in a row in an event. Feel free to explore the rules in the published rule book by USCF.
