our TD policy.

Overview

  1. TDs must know how to play chess and understand the rules of the game
  2. our tournament directors are unpaid volunteers
  3. they deserve respect and gratitude for being willing to dedicate their time to the club and its players
  4. they are allowed to compete in an event they are directing and get free entry
  5. to eliminate any conflict of interest, TDs will not be allowed to win any prize money awarded in the tournament that they are directing
  6. in the event of an odd number of players, it is preferred that the TD take a bye for that round so that the players will get to play or step in to even things out for everyone
  7. in the event of a conflict between the TD and an opponent whom the TD is competing against - the TD is instructed to seek outside resolution with another TD
  8. parents - if you volunteer and depending on responsibility level, you may request to get ONE free entry fee for your child who is participating in the event you are directing, you will have to be an actual "TD" registered with USCF
  9. in the event of a conflict, if a parent is TD and the conflict involves their child, the conflict will need to be resolved by another TD to eliminate conflicts of interest
