Parking, Pairings, Etc.

We have a surprise treat for the kids! Each tournament player will receive a free *sweet treat* from an ice cream truck that we will have onsite from 1130am - 1pm. We will hand out a "treat ticket" to each player during one of the rounds. If you would prefer your child to not indulge in a sweet delight, please retrieve the ticket from your child after they are distributed. =)
Reminders to Parents
  1. Join the "one-day only" text list! If you did not fill out this form for this tournament, you WILL NOT get important pairing texts, etc. It does not matter if you have done this previously for a different tournament. Phone numbers are removed each time we have an event and new text lists have to be created for each event.
  2. Remind your kids that if they do NOT 100% know if they are checkmated or not, have them pause the clock and raise their hand for a TD (tournament director) to check the position on the board. Any claims after the result has been agreed upon will not be honored. All issues/questions/conflicts MUST be addressed WHEN it happens right away, not after the game is over.
  3. Results are recorded on the HONOR SYSTEM. This means, both players should go up together to the pair chart and record together to ensure it is being recorded accurately. Please learn how to do this.
  4. All parents/guardians are to remain present for the duration of the entire event. A chess tournament is not daycare. Players will finish games and look for their parents before they restart their next game. For some players there is a lot of free time in between rounds depending on how fast they play.
  5. There will be a small amount of breakfast tacos for sale the day of the event. There will be pizza and beef & chicken kabobs with basmati rice for sale during the lunch break as well as some beverages and small snacks like popcorn. Please bring small bills in cash. Anyone with diet restrictions should bring a sack lunch. Nearby food requiring a drive includes Carrabba's, Taco Cabana, Subway, Hiccups & Churroholic, Gyu-Kaku BBQ, I-Hop, McDonalds.
  6. Bring chess clocks and pencils for notation. If you don't have a clock, kids will start without clocks and one may be added towards the end of the time control as needed by tournament directors.
